Sophie Mei Lan is a freelance Journalist, Writer and Presenter who has won awards, published books, set up a media social enterprise and runs multi-award-winning blogs and vlogs who has reached two billion people with one video alone as well as having her own regular radio show and podcast.
She writes articles, books, columns creates content and makes documentaries for a range of clients and media outlets.
Mixed race Sophie who is born and bred in Yorkshire works locally and nationally for newspapers, magazines, personal brands and has made documentaries all around the world.
She shares her own story and those of others, specialising in social affairs, mental health and wellbeing, disability and issues impacting northern communities.

Ey Up I’m Sophie Mei Lan,
I love nothing more than sharing stories via film, TV, press and radio. I host events, present on screen, facilitate media workshops and I write articles, books and content.

Sophie created a mini documentary on Anxiety and Mental Health which was bought by a channel who then released it, leading to a two billion reach.

Sophie won two consecutive awards for Campaign of the Year for her documentary called Save My Baby about the NHS, and another national award for her multimedia investigation of ‘grooming gangs’ in an exclusive on Child Sexual Exploitation in South Yorkshire for radio. This was also shortlisted for an IRN commercial radio award.

Sophie set up a social affairs magazine in which she investigated and uncovered a range of human rights issues. Her articles went viral, leading to international news coverage and winning a human rights award media award in association with Daily Mirror and Amnesty International.
